Living on a Tropical Island

No regrets and living the dream. Still living on our sailboat while building a home. I love Ambergris Caye, San Pedro Belize. I think I am the only aerialist on the island. I have my single point sling hung in CrossFit Wolf gym with about 20+ feet ceiling height. Morning workouts seem best for cooler conditions and consistency. I’ve been teaching myself new skills and adding my own gymnastics background to the mix and regular strength training plus cardio are keeping me strong and fit

PERSONAL STATEMENT

You can learn a new sport or in this case aerial, but you can never train out a life time of gymnastics. I still move and perform like a gymnast because it’s in my nature and ingrained. I finally stopped fighting this even with so much training to be more fluid and supple. My body has adapted and changed to flow better, but the drama of tricks and posses still lure me into my own trained state of movement. Everyone has their own way of moving and influenced by many factors. As a trained gymnasts from the age of 10, it does not define me, but influences me both mentally and physically. Being a kinesthetic learner has taught me many repetitions is required to acquire skill. This for me means determination and time to learn new movements, however aerial has taught me how to link and transition old with new in a unique way that gymnastics never quite did. As they say you can train an old dog new tricks, but you cannot change their nature in which they have been trained.
